i am powder coater newbies here.
Could anyone please tell me simple advice tips/tricks in how and steps applying multi coating or layer coating.
i mean for translucent candy blue over chrome example.
Powder coat:PBPT (already bought translucent/candy blue, ultimate chrome, clear)
Gun Powder: Eastwood hot coat

i started with that gun...i found the chrome went good but the other colors never. so make sure you've got a good ground (search for that...really good info on here) and i found that shooting with the part still warm helped alot. not hot enough to melt the powder but warmer then the outside temp.
I never use a chrome for my candys...The valve cover you have posted photos are of my v.c done in metallic silver with OCC candys red and blue.
The trick is to shoot with a metallic silver fully cure follow with a candy @ 150f warm..

why dont you shoot over the chrome? just wondering.
but yea, i started off with this gun also... the first coat goes on perfect, but the trick for the second coat is to warm it up like everyone says.
noted.. thanks all. i really appreciated for the tips and advice. the result will update soon once the project build diy oven done.
real chrome may bubble off during the cure cycle.
some people will powder over chrome and have no problems, I however am a "play it safe" kind of guy in this respect and only coat over powder or polished material
I personally think spraying over real chrome is the best way too go for candies, as long as the chrome is good chrome you will have no problem with blistering, and since we do our own chrome i know its the best
