Just out of curiosity, is there anything special about this frame?

not really, that is a design from the late 80's or early 90's that they have recently re-issued with some changes to accommodate modern components. they're pretty cool, just a little on the heavy side. i will tell you this, that is the best looking one i've seen.....and i've seen quite a few...hundred
