the good side to this is those motors end up in my shop again after a few years for repolishing .
but not that one though , that bike was going in a container to be shipped to Thailand

Re: candy red
You feel the same on all polished things like wheels and such?
Harleyi will not push the sale for a clear coat over polishing but if the customer asks for it i show him a sample part half clear coated and other half bare polishing and after explaining the good and the bad i let him decide
Thanks for the help baz. The good and the bad? except for engines it's just they are duller right? Non engine parts don't yellow also after a time do they.

yes parts are a little duller some wheels that get too hot too often could turn yellowish close to the mountng points
also when putting a clear over a polished part it seems to magnify any buffing lines or any imperfections in the part
the good side of clearcoating would be the reduced maintenance, scratch protection, protection against oxidation

Re: candy red
Thanks baz. I have people talking to me about clearing their rims for them this winter, now I have some things I can diccuss with them. This way they won't be upset later. Most of them want them coated because they want to not have a corrosion issue. These will be new bikes freshly picked up.
