  • Nice low price compressor water drainer

After having to remove an old tank that had out lived its years I ended up with water getting into my system. Now I know why I never had a problem. I had two tanks. The old one cought all the water and the second was kept dryer.
A good friend of mine help me find what I needed. Price is good and very adjustable to go with your needs. I added a 1/4 cut off valve in front of it so if I need to ever service it I can with out dumping the air. I wired it into the switch on the compressor so that its works when the compressor is running. It discharges as soon as the compressor comes on and I have it set to discharge every 4 min for 4 sec while running. So far so good. He told me that I need to find something I could put in-line between the compressor and the tank to help cool the hot air before it hits the tank. You can buy them but they are not so cheep? Need to see what will take the pressure and not hurt the air volume that could be adapted to it and then a fan to keep it cooler? And then if needed a desiccant unit for my paint and powder bay area if needed. I guess they have all any one would need just needed this first.

Don't buy the cheep Harbor Freight one for $10 except for little units. And the little units are good for tires and nail guns a sutch.

This is what I have to keep my air dry for my paint hose and my powder coating hose and lines.

I had saw that one before. I think I also had a link to it or one like that on the EW forum? At this point I can do without spending money I don't have but really have to stay on top of things for sure. My unit is not in my shop so I wanted a way for it to help control the water with out me having to do it all the time. I hate hearing a compressor come on in the same space I work in so it stays in its on space and I say quite in mine Now to move the vac unit out away from the cabinet blaster and I might be able to hear the phone ring

This is what I use. I have 4 water drop points before it hits the unit. I've had to redry the dessicant twice in one year. Works like a charm!

I like the set up and even found it $55 cheaper but out of cash is out of cash so I have to go as cheep as I can and keep a good eye on it for the time being. maybe some of the guys might be interested and help them.

And then 3 to 6 months someone will be asking what they can do to help them Never ending cycle is it?

You said redry? Most you have to replace the pack? What can you tell me about that part? I will try to do some more searching I guess?

I see you can buy 5 lbs of it at a time? How much does it hold?

It holds 2 lbs of dessicant I think. I'd have to check the manual.

To recharge, I just unscrew it from the unit pour out the spent dessicant and bake it at 300 degrees for a an hour or so. Stir occasionally. I would think I can do it as many times as needed. That way I don't have to spend $50 on new dessicant every 6 months.

It has a sight glass to see when the beads go from blue to pink. If they are pink they aren't as effective.

I make sure I blow my drop points out before I go in for the day. seems to work.

I got mine on ebay about a year ago for 350 shipped I think.

Thanks for the info. By being able to reuse the desiccant saves a bunch and makes it a more attractive unit over the course of time.

Well at least you don't have to go take a leak you have already taken one

Have you got a tube say run out side so its not as bad as being inside? That would or could cut down on the noise it makes maybe? My whole unit is in another room outside my shop but I do hear it but not to loud.

I have drain hoses on all my drain spots whether it be at the tank, dryer, or even the drop points. Works pretty sweet no noise and no dust and crap blowing around. I'm still manual drain though.

Except for the cost you could have these http://store.ecompressedair.com:80/detail.aspx?id=3790 mounted where ever you want them and either have them tied into the compressor to work when its running or just plugged into 110 and set to whenever you want them to drain? So far its doing a great job of keeping it out of my lines but I have not been over using lately because of weather and work load.

Mid way of my shop I have a regulator I can drain and in my paint bay I have one I can drain. Just one of the smaller desiccant units might just cover me as long as I do as you do and do the manual drain when I should and before I go to do any thing paint or powder wise in my bay area? I also have a drain and regulator across the shop for my blast cabinet. I am covered on them.
The only problem is when my son wanted to shoot some primer and cut the regulator down to 50 lbs and then hooked the paint gun up to the hose that had 120 lbs. He did shoot some primer fast and dry for sure and I told him that if the little hole had stopped up he would have had gun and primmer every friging where. He was lucky for sure

Nope, never got around to the drain tube. Never crossed my mind about the sound either. I guess that's going on the list!

Well you said make me pee so maybe you have drain already Just not where you want it I bought a 45 nylon one from Lowe's and I think takes 3/8 plastic tubing on the barbed end of it and it should do the trick.
