  • PATENTED ULTIMATE CHROME

First let me say this product is Patented and the closest you will find to true Chrome if applied properly for that is key. This little lady needs to be layed down thin as in 1.8 mils and baked out completely ( she is overbake stable to mimimize any overbaking). Allow the product to cool down and once again apply a light clear coat. Two good clears to use are the glass clear but better yet use the Diamond Acrylic clear (only if you can get 2 coats cold)....do not hot flock if at all possible.

Not going to work. Brighter silver yea but chrome NO. If you don't put any clear then you have a very nice top of the line up near chrome maybe????

I guess but not sure was the first to try it after it was tested and before the price went up. I do have a piece that has no clear on it and its hanging all the wall out in my shop and holding up great even with me handling it but they say it want take outside and don't get any thing on it.

I am also not the only one that has posted about it. It was even talked about on EW. And why did it come up again with no question and just an answer from Shelly

Can someone prove me wrong about it? I will be happy to see it shine that well for sure.

Did this post stem from the need help post?

What would be awesome is if they can come up with a clear thats really clear. Like a clear paint. The Ultimate chrome is great but when you clear it the great goes away like all the others. But still I use it and wait for a true clear. I do like working with Ultimate chrome it sprays nice covers well and looks suburb.

i havn t tried it over chrome powders yet but the diamond acrylic clear is much clearer than the others that i have tried.
i tried it on polished brass and you could not see that there was a clear coat on there.

Has anybody tried the "Glisten PC" 2 component clear on the Ultimate chrome? I've heard some talk that it's pretty good. It's kind of pricey, but hey if it works it would be worth it and you can supposedly brush it on!

                Here ya go Beebob.
Takes a bit of time to cure.

GLISTEN PC is a High Gloss, Rock Hard, Water-clear topcoat designed for spray or brush application over all metal surfaces, including highly polished aluminum and chrome surfaces. GLISTEN PC will not leave brushmarks, and will dry in less than one hour, but will take 3-4 days to reach maximum hardness.

Whats your advice on spraying it and curing? I have been working with diamond acrylic clear over ultimate chrome and still get the dulling. It would'nt be so bad but after you see ultimate chrome without any coverage it is awesome. It's about as close to chrome as you can get without being chrome. Then ya clear it I am hoping I can get a coverage to make it standout. It does come out better than reflective chrome. At first I couldn't get it to come out well and thought the reflective chrome was better, but I changed the way I am spraying it. Big difference!

It's like what BeeBob was saying you have to put on a thin coat. Watch closely and spray just enough to cover the part and quit spraying. Normally I would dust over to make sure I have a good coat but the chrome doesn't come out as good. I started practicing spraying thin coats till the chrome shined like real chrome. (without the clear)

                          Re: PATENTED ULTIMATE CHROME

I think it's a good idea. Infact the valve cover I posted the other day has ultimate chrome on it and today I will put a candy blue over it. Basically if you like a chrome base under your candies it's probably as good as it gets. Heres a pic of the vc before the candy. I will post pics after the candy also.

Yep have the Pro. The only thing I have not done with the ult chrome is shoot the candies or transparent over it. It should turn out brighter maybe? But then you also might have to have it light tested to see it? I don't think I have seen or heard any one say they have or I missed the post and also if someone has done it I have also not heard if they could see a difference? If anyone knows I would like to hear what they say.

Looks like we might find out as soon as Harley shoots the candy but then he needs to shoot another chrome and the candy to compare unless he has one already done in the same candy?
The Ult chrome is so bright its a shame it can't stay like that and it pricey for it not to work the way we want it to work with a clear top coat for protection. All the chromes go down when top coated. And the only use would be if it will top coat with a candy and make us or the customer say WOW I want that and then charge them a few bucks more to cover the cost and all be happy. It does shoot great with my pro gun and maybe even better with the better ones? Hell it shoots fine with my craftsman also.

If the price of it was not higher then I would not complain as much and it would just fall under the brightest chrome so for. I have spent enough money on colors that are not what they should be because it was named wrong or someone does not have a clue to what some colors should be in say the real world and also they don't have the sample panels on hand that we need to see before we lay out the bucks. We all go through this from time to time and end up with powder that we just hope someone will want or they just say shoot it in a color like so-n-so so it will be protected and then you get rid of it

I quit now Aren't you glad

This is to closest to chrome that's not real on the market but it is not a tough paint its just a paint process but my god what it looks like and talk pricey. Its is that. You need to be in the high dollar area to handle this kind of outlay of bucks.
