  • Color suggestions?

Hey guys, Im looking for a color that is as close as I can get to polished aluminum. I would like to stay with a single stage powder.
I picked up a customer that is in the restaurant machine business and he would like me to coat refurbed meet slicers and other such pieces. Any suggestions would be great.

Dont you have to use a FDA approved powder for that?

If it comes into contact with the food you do.

Eastwood has a bonded chrome thats a single stage spray and resembles polished aluminum. So does PBTP.http://www.powderbuythepound.com/catalo ... cts_id=154

Neither are FDA approved though. Check with the restaurant guy and verify useage. Or you can look at the FDA website http://www.fda.gov/ Dupont sells FDA approved powders. http://www2.dupont.com/Powder/en_US/

      Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, I asked the owner of the company and he seems to think all powder coat is approved but he keeps referring to USDA. I will look into the fda aproved powders though. Im sure that they make fda approved powder for a reason.
If all goes well he has a whole warehouse full of this stuff. Thanks

aren t meat slicers made out of brushed or polished stainless steel . chrome powders don t have much resistance to cleaning products and those machines have to be cleaned after every use

Actually would be the clear wouldn't it Baz? I hope chrome/clear combos take cleaning if not wouldn't it be a problem selling it to people for wheels? Just being my curious self.

If they clean them right they are using some kind of metal mesh scrubby, or a scotch bright pad, very abrasive.

There isn't a powder out there that will take abuse from one of those pads day after day. You might have to re think the project.

in his post he says he wants a single stage powder , so that alone is a problem single stsge chromes are not known to be very resistant .
and those slicers have to be cleaned many many times a day , so unless you don t have any type of social life i don tthink that you clean your wheels that often

Thanks for the input guys, I will stay away from the chrome powders for this project, I did not think about the cleaning aspect.
What do you think about a regular powder such as a platinum or other type of silver, maybe something more durable.
Here are some pics of the parts, If i can do this job what do you think would be a good price.?[attachment=0:2ms3um4z]100_0498.JPG[/attachment:2ms3um4z]
