08 GSX 1300R hayabusa if spelling is correct?

Has any one has these coated and who did it or do you know what is on it from the factory before I strip it. It is a nice heavy piece and have two of them + some extra stuff also for him. It has a nice shine to it and could be powder + clear or paint + clear? He is a tug boater and want be back home till the 30th so I have plenty of time to get it right and to mess with them looks like I could always put one in my small oven and see what happens to it? And if it makes it then shoot some powder and see what it does then? OH he wants Satin Black. Great color don't you think

Same with the Yamahas, they are just painted silver and it comes right off.

What size grit and what do you guys like to use? I got to where I like the AO 80 grit. Does a nice clean job as long as I am not working with some tough rust and then I have to go to my bigger cabinet and hit it with my BB and then bring it back to the AO and finish it up.

I used glass bead to remove the paint, the finish was extremely smooth. The paint will remove really easy !!

The only reason I got away from glass beads was it causing problems embedding its self into some of pot metal parts and then some of the problems with it say getting its self into areas of motor parts because it got by a bad tape up and then released into the motor later on. And our local supply company went up so high on it because of shipping, almost double. So I thought I would just get away from it all together. I have a 50 lb bag of it I never opened. If I had a extra smaller cabinet I would use it for stuff that went on the outside of motors or bikes. I did like the way it did the job.

I have experienced those problems also. Glass bead was just what I had available at the time of stripping those parts. I like the 80 AO a lot and used it when i was prepping parts to be polished.

I copied the picture and when I see him to give him his parts at the end of the month I will ask him where the rest of his parts are so I can make a few more bucks I do have two foot pegs and then some bolts from him with them. Some times I try to search for stuff done before I ask a question but some time if you don't use the right wording you could look forever to find some thing you can have an answer on in short time.

Thanks for the link to them
