  • Pricing on coil overs...

Got a customer who wants these coil overs powder coated in black or another neutral color.

They are in decent condition with some surface rust that will need to be blasted off and some paint that will need to be removed.

What should pricing be for all the parts in orange?

    Thanks!

Yeah it doesn't look that bad, my only concern is that I haven't seen them in person and the guy described them as "surface rust" which a lot of times means "completely rusted out and hours of blasting"

I'll start at $80 and see what the job requires once I see them in person. Thanks!

        Will they withstand the heat?

Does the shock tube slip over the actual shock or is there oil in the orange piece? The customer might not be aware what the disassemble requires/

The entire thing should come apart since these coilovers are commonly repaired, whether the customer knows how to take them apart or not is another thing. I asked him to bring me the things in orange in that picture, if he shows up with anything else then I just can't do it... hehe. I'll post up when I hear from him. Thanks for all the help.

I am not too familiar with these K sport Coilovers, but it looks like the two on the left have a perch and the lower mounting bracket will unscrew from the sleeve (seeing that there is a secondary perch on the bottom of the bracket. The top hat should definitely come off easily. But the other side looks to be the actual casing/body of the shock.

                  ^^^ I agree...

Ultimately it's his responsibility to take the thing apart and get 'em to me, so we'll see how it goes.

For sure, LOL he is probably recoating them because a lot of people hate Ksports. They are very cheap and actually not that great...easily Koni/Ground Control set up is much much better for around the same price IIRC.

Yea, I loved my koni yellows/ground control setup on my 00 Si. It was even better when I had the car corner balanced. 350F/400R. She was pretty tail happy with a fat sway bar on it.

                      I miss that car
