  • Need info on how 5 gal of stripper is shipped?

    Hi Guys,
When you order say 5 gal or 10 of stripper how does it get packaged and sent to you?
I understand that 5 gal is not 5 gal by weight and it depends on the density of the product and can be from say 41 lbs to 55 lbs on weight?

I am not going to get shafted by UPS on shipping even if I have to use my on FedEx account to do it at a better price so I need a little info so I can contact FedEx for a price and have my mess together the best I can?

I am going to post this on another forum just in case its got members that we don't have?

I need 25 gal to do just one wheel or a couple of bike wheels and can't afford it so I am going to get 10 gal and that should do one bike wheel and half a auto rim! The stripper price is bad enough but the shipping is costly and not going to get any better for us as we all know. So I need any any I can get to get the best way to have it shipped.

    Thanks

    Yep its PBTB stripper

Duke, we talked about this on the phone the other night. And when you said you needed 25 gallons to do a wheel, I figured you were just doing your usual incoherent babbling

Brother, 25 gallons is WAY too much for a single wheel. You also mentioned you had come up with a 55 gallon HDPE drum to cut down to hold the wheel. I did the same thing: I cut it to about 18" deep, but I only used 10 gallons. All you have to do is cover just over 1/2 of the wheel at a time (provided it's laying on it's side and not in the upright position like it would be if it was on a car/bike), then you can just flip it over. No need to submerge the WHOLE thing. I never got a chance to tell you that...........cause you never STFU on the phone

The D-zolve 1012 used to be shipped in 5 gallon metal cans. They have recently switched over to 5 gallon HDPE plastic buckets - but the dambed lids won't come off (cause there ARE no lids - they are solid molded buckets). I'd imagine the reason for the swap was because the metal cans were at the mercy of every "monkey farking a football" forklift driver on the planet. Too easy to poke a hole in a thin gage metal can vs. a plastic bucket. I like the plastic better, but dambnit, put a frickin' removable lid on the thing!! I use those 5 gallon "Homer" buckets for EVRYTHING!!! Grrrrrrrrr.

Re: Need info on how 5 gal of stripper is shipped?

What I had done was set the wheel in the barrel about 1" off the bottom and started putting in 5 gal of water. 10gal should do half a wheel. It took 4 to cover it about 3/4" over the wheel. That was using a 96 t-bird 15" alum wheel. At least using 2 would do a bike one with no problem.

PBTP uses ups to ship and ups is on the norm higher but they told me they get great service and a check back in the evening so that helps them get products out faster where FedEx just stops by once. I am in no big hurry so if I can save some money on shipping that's what I will do. I have a FedEx account and they do to, so once I know how the stuff is shipped I can do the math on shipping cost. When I talked to them the other day he gave me a price range for shipping and did not pin an actual price on it. One thing about it is just stick a shipping label on it and out the door I guess.

I will send them a note today and get them to ship the cheapest way and be done with it. I just hope it will do the job good and it do the work and not me having to spend full time to strip them?

        Thanks CP

BUT BUT BUT a plastic is 22". Going to be one tight fit and want fit any way I don't think? A 15" is 16 1/2 edge to edge so that 22 might not even fit in a steel drum? Better do some checking on the real size of that 22". And some checking on what ever drum you get!

                            Good luck on you quest.
