  • Outgas removal of crud??

I know you guys have been through this a thousand times so slap me for being slow. My question is if you outgas something, in my case aluminum wheels and 2 peice intake. And after you take them out you see stuff that come out of the metal you would obviously clean them, with soap and water? or, Blast them again then clean with soap and water? and lastly do I re-outgas them?

    Thanks

    Re: Outgas removal of crud??

I've done both, washing or blasting, depending on how bad it is. I actually got a couple of steel plates in the oven curing right now that had the same deal during off-gassing. They looked like they just needed a good rinse, so I sprayed them down with alcohol and dried them with a microfiber rag.

If it's really bad, like that intake manifold I had a few weeks ago, I will blast it again, wash it down, then off-gass again like normal.

This has worked well for me. Hopefully some of the veterans can pitch in.

I believe you do yourself an injustice for you are correct....something is coming out of the substrate that was seen before...a major problem for any custom coater...a clean substrate is a happy substrate You are way too cute
