  • Wonder if it would work? Just Maybe?

When you are doing some parts that have areas that don't get powder and you use this stick it just might give you the info you want? I have used these when using my aluminum gas type welding so I can make sure its ready or also not over ready? And it works. Lets say you are doing a part that you don't coat the back side like intakes and bike parts and even cast iron headers. You could use the stick to mark the part and watch for the color change? Or does it work that way?

You welders should know maybe? Can it be put on before or do you have to just use it as you apply heat?

I am getting ready to place an order for some parts for my mig and saw them and said just maybe it would work?

    Worth a shot, right?

I wonder if it will actually stay on there long enough or if it will burn off after sitting in the 300's for a few minutes. Is it supposed to work instantly by heating the part like a welder or can it withstand long periods of time?

I actually use those quite often at work (heat treatment). They are made of a special chalk-wax blend designed to melt at the temp indicated on the stick. They can be applied at anytime, i.e. before or after heating starts. If the temp is low, they usually will leave a mark that looks like a chalk line. As they get closer to the indicated (on the stick) temp, they start melting and flowing, similar to PC. They really don't change color, it's more like wax melting. Once they hit the desired temp, they will fully melt and leave a trail like you get from a melting candle. However, once the temp is above the desired one, it will melt like a stick of butter in a hot frying pan. From my experience, they are pretty accurate within 3-4 degrees, of the stated temp.

      Hopefully that helps you out.

That helps a bunch. Have to give it a try to see what it does and you sure do look cute in you G string Got any more pictures? Shelly might get "P" but what the heck James will just tell her to shut her mouth and then Mathew will have to break up the fight. I hear it happens all the time
