So I just came up from downstairs where I was playing around a bit. One thing has really been bugging me. This is aimed at the other guys using a toaster oven for small parts. How are you getting parts in the oven without disturbing the fresh powder? So far, I've just been practicing, so my results aren't that important. I've been just laying parts on the rack in my toaster oven. But if I had a part I was trying to coat on all sides. And wanted it to look good when done, how would I do it? Assuming theres a place on the part I can hang it from, how would I remove it from the hanger then get it in the oven? Nothing to hang it from in there. I can hang it from a rack in the top position, but that would be tricky, and really cut down on the size of the item I could coat. Has anyone modded a toaster oven to account for this? Or made a neat little bracket to put in there and hang parts from? I'm thinking I may just drill a hole in the top of this puppy.

Re: Movng parts to the oven
I have never used a toaster oven, but I use to hang parts with safety wire to the rack on the top shelf of the kitchen stove. It can be tricky getting good even coverage especially if the part has to be close to the rack due to size!BUT, where there's a will there's a way!

Re: Movng parts to the oven
I got tired of spending the time getting the parts in my kitchen oven. It seemed no matter how careful i was i would still accidently touch the part. I upgraded to a larger one, and now im going even bigger!!Comment

Re: Movng parts to the oven
I use hangers from the uniform company that supplies at my real jobcheap for me, and you can cut to whatever size you want with a simple pair of needle nose pliars and bend your hook ends however you need them.
Just a suggestion, if you have not yet, look on craigslist, I have found 2 free kitchen ovens in my area. You may be able to score one that someone is throwing out cause of a upgrade or if the eyes on the top stopped working but the oven still doesComment

Re: Movng parts to the oven
I have used a toaster oven and still have it setting in my shop. I make small hooks out of stainless steel wire and use long reach needle nose pliers to put the part in the oven. I hang the part from the heat rod and if I use the rack I have the rack out and set the part on it then slide the rack in.Comment

Re: Movng parts to the oven
My first oven was a toaster...lol what I did was I took a piece of 1/4 inch angle iron the lenght of the oven and drilled holes in it along one side of it. And I lightly tack welded the strip of angle to the top of the oven. Then use needle nose pliers to put the piece in. The holes in the angle gave me the ability to hang the pieces across the length of the oven.Comment
