Alright some of you guys help me out here I need pricing for 6 of these. Customer supplied powder. Size 60"h x 50"L x 34"w. Wash, phosphate, coat and cure.
There are a couple of things you need to consider when pricing parts. Do you know your overhead rate? Most shops and manufacturing facilities calculate an hourly rate base on fixed cost, and vaiable cost. Fixed cost aka rent, your hourly rate and your employees hourly rate if you have any. variable cost will be your supplies, electric and gas ect. I calculate based on a 40 hour week, any overtime such as rush jobs on the weekend I multiply by 1.5. An example would be your rate per hour 40.00 supplies per month 500.00 electricity and gas 500.00 and rent 800.00. take the variable cost 1800.00 and divide by 160 hours in the month = 11.25 per hour variable cost and 40.00 per hour your rate. Total charge 51.25 per hour. Other things to consider is how many can you fit in your oven. can you paint 2 while 2 are in the oven. In total not knowing exactly what your expenses are if I had to guess on the parts I would say around 70.00 to 80.00 dollars since the owner is suppling the powder. I hope this helps. It would help everyone on the forum to take some time and calculate your cost. Don't set your prices where you cannot make any money. Remember most of you are doing CUSTOM work. not run parts down a conveyor with 10.00 an hour operators off the streets.
Thanks for the help. i can fit one in the oven at a time, and have one ready to go in. My hourly rate is $45 and and I know my fixed cost but dont want to post them publicly. Figuring them up at that rate I'm not sure I want this type of business mainly because that oven time can be used on custom stuff that pays much better. A full oven of batch custom work usually pays between $250-400 dollars.
