  • Temp and Hot Flocking Glass

What is a good temp to do say coke or wine type bottles. They are made of heavy type glass so should do well I would think?

I've done several wine bottles. I just get them to around 200 or 250, enough for the powder to start melting on contact so it sticks, then do a normal cure. The heavy glass will stay hot long enough to get a good coat on. I actually have 14 glass lampshades to do in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure it was around the norm of hot flocking.

I guess you give them a light blasting for the bit of the powder but the lampshades might be another story? I guess you just have to be carefull?

Heres the topic on the bottles I did. I did the same as wiseguyz and it worked pretty sweet. I didn't blast them though just cleaned them real well.

That was interesting and very COOL as HD said Now one more question and I should have all I need. Except for the dag bottles. I don't drink beer in the winter. Just not fun when its not 90 to 100. How do you hang them? I have mig wire that I could put around the neck or have you guys got something that goes in the neck and holds it?

OH what if you drop one that been coated? Is it all over the place as norm or does the powder keep it better togeather while you are because it was you best one?

I guess I will get my bike shop owner to get me some bottles. His shop is tied into a bar

I use my S hooks and just squeeze one end close together so it goes inside the bottle but tight enough to stay in the bottle. You could make one out of a coat hanger. I haven't dropped one yet so I'm not sure what would happen. What kind of bike shop do you have?

Re: Temp and Hot Flocking Glass

Thanks for the info both of you on the hooks. i will give it a try.

We don't have a bike shop. Would have but my son ran out of funds and he didn't want to live at the same place the shop was at like here at home because he did that at his last shop and bikers would come by any time because they knew he was there in the middle of the night

He has all the tools and equipment to open one back up whenever we win the loto I guess

The shop I was talking about is a new custom shop that just opened up this summer and I have the contract for all the coating and painting on any thing they build to sell. But their business has been as tough as mine. No body spending much.

He has his custom he built pan/shovel and I think all it need is the instrument panel. And I have a 75 Sportster he bought for me that right now is scattered all over the shop I got to get it all coated I guess and back together if I am ever going to ride it before I get to old don't you say a work HD I can hear you thinking
