Ouch!...I think that if that isn't fixed......that bad boy will open up more with time, and probably cause a pretty big problem. If they were on the car already and that happend on his car I would think that...well....he sort of cause it, some how. That makes me believe that he might drive kinda hard, hence he probably will end up opening that crack more. One good bump and bam!! lol.....Just my opinion....

Re: Wheel Crack - What do ya think folks
Just my 2 cents worth...I wouldn't do that one, PERIOD! That is only the crack that you can see. There is no way to know without x-raying or some other method if other invisible fractures exist, but it looks to me like a sure sign of potential failure.Dan

Well...stress cracks happen....I havent seen them much but when they happen usually you should get a replacement. I guess what I would do...since he knows about it, coat em' an just let him be aware to be concious to it and look at it periodically. If it starts to get worse he takes em off. Either way you are in the clear. Go for it Bro!!!Comment

Just mess'in with ya brother. But that's why it only cost you 2 cents!
If my car was run into, I'd probably look deeper for damage too, like a bent frame or cracked frame, etc. I probably wouldn't do that if there was no visible damage to begin with.Dan

Originally posted by hjeadesYou could have it welded and ground down the weld. We sell reconditioned wheels all the time. Myself I'd let him call the ball do as is, not do, or weld and do.Comment

Originally posted by HarleydadYa, the ball is in his court. He did mention trying to get one more on sleaze bay to replace that one. Even if this one gets repaired, a waiver of some kind is still in order.Comment

Re: Wheel Crack - What do ya think folks
Hey HD. Look at that crack real good and see if its a crack or a factory screw up that they covered up because of a problem with the mold? I have looked at the second picture a few times and the crack does not look right as in damage? But you have it and can see it better. If in the mold then a lot of them could have come out that way? But it will be up to your customer on that call for sure.
Go have a beer and rest for a while. It will get betterComment

Originally posted by polertOn the subject of a waiver for any job will not save your ass. When there is blood in the water the sharks of lawyers will shoot that back at you like a spit ball if shit hits the fan. Your only way to battle this is to have really good insurance, and have personnel asset separated from the business.
I have been through the lawyer ass rape it is not any funny.

Re: Wheel Crack - What do ya think folks
Obviously have him get it welded and either x-rayed or put through an ultrasound. Another thing would be to have him get it checked for straight. With a crack in it, it may not be perfectly straight, and if it isn't then even if it gets welded it still might not be safe.Comment
