Depends on your situation. Electric is the safest though.

I've not seen anyone mention it in the gas vs. electric debate, but gas gives off water vapor when it burns. I don't know if that's a consideration or not.

I use gas, and I haven't ever had a problem. (knock on wood)

It's true that gas ovens give off a small amount of water vapor during combustion, but if properly constructed, the vapor is exhausted out the chimney (and hopefully outside) and won't affect the coating. Most large commercial ovens are gas because they are more economical to run and have a very fast recovery time.

Oh, and anyone who thinks electric is safer has never gotten across a 50 amp 220 volt line and got knocked on his a$$!

Kidding, BC. I hear what you're saying. I've never heard of an electric oven blowing up.
