    Hi, I'm new to the board. Have several questions, for now I was wondering if anyone out there has used a fluidized bed to apply powder to a part. This a vat having powder suspended with air..I realize it could be explosive if a spark came off the part, so i was wondering if it would work if you used nitrogen gas..what do you think? I was also wondering how the powder coat stripper stuff worked. Thanks, Dan

    The powder is the explosive part not the air. The only advantage to nitrogen would be dry air.

      I understand that the powder is the combustible part, where I'm going here is that the nitrogen will not support combustion, hence a spark would be a non issue. What I am wondering is if the powder will charge sufficiently if I use a "halo" electrode near the bottom and will the cloud reach into the inside corners of the part. I have a plan to build such a vessel, but if someone else has done this and ran into problems I can save my efforts for something else.

        Im not sure about how well it can coat into recesses and corners but nitrogen can be used as an air source I have seen it used on a powder system before to eliminate moisture problems.
