anyone did one of those wheels , it s a optional hd wheel ,it is flat black bt when i compare with the tuscan flat black the wheel looks like 0% gloss compared to the tuscan black that looks a little gloss to it ,
this black wheel looks almost like a black primer on it and i m doing only the rear one so it need to be a good match

    Re: flat black

maybe the black magic the gloss level is 0-5 vs the tuscan at 0-10

It is hard to get a black that is a polyester or a polyurethane in a 0% gloss. You can find epoxies and hybrids in a 0% gloss. That is why they have a gloss range with the polyester's and TGIC's of 0-5% or 0-10%. If you guys can find one that doesn't have a shine to it at all let us know, we will stock it. I have seen where companies state there is no gloss and when we sampled the product, same results, there was a little shine to it. Sometimes you can play with the cure times and temperatures to achieve a lower gloss level.

no i don t think it would work , if you have seen one of those wheels they are 0 % gloss and the coating looks quite thin adding an additional coat might show a more thicker coat look to it .
if i would be doing both wheels then it would be an option but i am doing only one that the shop scratched when installing it.
        thanks harleydad

thanks for the information . my question is that knowing that epoxies are not uv safe do you think that hd would sell a wheel knowing that the finish on it won t last or would they have a 0% gloss powder that is uv safe

            Re: flat black

I use TCI Dash Black # 8000-9000. It is a Urethane and has almost 0 gloss. It looks just like black primer.

the bike shop told me it was factory pc but who knows , i ll stick it in the oven tonight to see if the paint is affected by the heat

tcipowder.com, based in Georgia, but they have several warehouses scattered around the USA and one in Ontario. Their stock colors are a 5 lb. minimum and RAL colors are 25 lb. min., though.

Check this page on their site. http://www.tcipowder.com/Pages/AboutTCI.aspx. It lists all of their warehouse locations.

By the way, I'm not soliciting business for them, just passing along some info. They will provide Q panels if you need some samples.

Tinman and I drifted back to 2005 for awhile I saw your other post about drifting off topic (funny). I just thought I'd take the unnecessary stuff out.

I'm anxious to hear the solution you come up with for the wheel.
you ever notice that most discussions that end up being off topic almost everytime the answer to the original question is in there anyway so i don t really see this as a problem

for the wheel i have not had time to touch it yet,but after putting it side by side with the tuscan black sample i have i might try to convince the customer to go with the tuscan black , this is the rear wheel
and once installed the disc and the pulleyhide most of the wheel anyway . if not then i will suggest an epoxy flat black and tell him about the uv exposure and then let him decide , i dont really want to order 5 pounds of powder for this single wheel when i already stock , mirror, bumper, fine texture ,satin, pacar, wrinkle, and tuscan blacks

                          Re: flat black

TCI may be willing to send you a small sample (usually a pound or two). I've gotten several from them.

If all else fails and you have the time, I can send you some, I buy 55#s at a time and keep it in stock. I don't know what the shipping and fees would run you though.
