  • for the guys who have a blasting cabinet

Ive had one for a while. Its a tractor supply special (clark brand). It has a siphon pick up tube like alot of them do.

My prob is, about every 15 to 20 seconds I have to put my hand over the nozzle of the gun to blow air back through the pick up tube. The meida stops coming out for some reason. Im getting plenty of air, plent of pressure, and there is plenty of media. I have also checked for debris, twice I have took the media out of the cabinet and sifted it thinking that there was some shit in it and I couldnt find any.

anyone else have this problem, anyone else know how to fix it, any ideas at all?

    Thanks in advance and always,
    Mike

Yep, even put a bigger tip on it to see if the whole was to small, no help.

I picked up a Husky gun from Home Depot for about 15 bucks (maybe even less) and it works great. Maybe you can give that a shot? It doesn't get clogged or act up like the stock one did.

I have that problem only after the media starts getting contaminated...clean it all out and i'm
        good to go

Check the pick up tube for proper placement. I moved the pickup around on my cabinet and also partially closed one of the air siphon holes. Works much better now.

I've had the same problem, changed the media, added more to make sure the hole in the top of the pickup was covered, the problem went away. Ray

Re: for the guys who have a blasting cabinet

Thanks all, most of this stuff I have already tried. I might buy that gun if I can find it Juan, worst thing that could happen, if it doesnt fix it I will take it back.

Only other thing I guess could be moisture, Ive got a small p-trap at the inlet, but the humidity is so high here, I wouldnt doubt some is getting through.

The media is new, and it is covering the tube. I have tried it really really high and then only covering the tube, either way so far its the same.

Thanks for all the input guys, I am gonna try some stuff and I will get back and let you know what works if anything.

Re: for the guys who have a blasting cabinet

I had the same problem one time. It would work good for 15 or 20 seconds and then had to blow the line out. I thought the line was clear and still had the problem. I tore my brain apart trying everything to get it to work right and it wouldn't. Eventually I took the line off and shook it all out, and it turned out there was a screw in the line just kind of floating around. I am at a loss for how it got there, but I would blow air through, and I thought the line was clear. Not real likely, but worth a shot I guess.

I used to have that same problem. Like you I tried everything. One day called the mfg of my cabinet and he walked me thru my set up. After telling what all the sizes of the lines were he solved it with this.
All my lines are 1” from the tank to the cabinet. EXCEPT in one place. I had a moisture trap set up in line and the only thing that would fit on it was ¼”. So I used reducer to get it to fit on the inlet and outlet and then went back to 1”.
That was the problem. I took the trap out of the line and replaced it with a large one and I have not had a problem since.
