  • Yamaha Sport Bike question

I have a customer's Yamaha rider's set and passenger set to do. Not sure exactly what year or model, but probably a 600 that may be a year or 2 old. My problem is that I can't get the big allen-head bolt out of the back of the mounting bracket to remove the front footpegs so I can take off the brake and shift pedals. Does anyone know if those have a composite bushing inside the shift pedal (and/or brake pedal) or can I leave these assembled to shoot them? I know my son's Kawi had a plastic bushing in the shifter (that melted when I coated it. Luckily my machinist next door made me a bushing replacement...they come as part of the shift lever)

    Thanks guys.

Wise they have locktite on the threads heat it up with a torch and it will come right out. Not sure on the bushings I have seen them different ways within the same year model.

Put the assembly in a vise wrap it first. heat it up and use a allen on the socket not the L shape ones and it should come loose. The Suzuki mostly have plastic inserts. But im not sure on yamahas not many of them around here.

Well the bolts definitely had locktite on the threads. Heated the assemblies up to 200 f and they came apart easily. No plastic bushings so I could have left them together. Thanks guys!
