  • Flat ano red or blue

Has anybody that's shot this powder noticed if the color of the part makes a difference in the final outcome of the flat's color? Like a light base gives a lighter toned flat or if you can see surface blotches through the cured flat ano like a trans? I'm polishing the fins on an HD engine and he wants the color in flat red ano. Think I'll need a base coat, it does say trans in the description? I'm hoping NO, cause it'll sure save me a lot of work! All .02$$ wanted!

I think a blasted alum base is prob best. It needs to be laid down as thin as poss. The wheels I did a few weeks ago in the pics forum were admittedly done a little too thick. I didn't get that true ano look. I was still happy w/ them, such a cool color.

beebob, i would has to say yes. if you go to the "customers pictures" page and look under "some fun time" you will see some pictures i posted. the engine in the picture has ano flat red shot over chrome pieces, the next picture of the beer bottles has the last bottle on the right shot with ano flat red over just a blasted bottle (it kind of looks like a cranberry color). the next picture shows ano flat red over a hand polished beer bottle (2nd to last bottle (it looks a little pink in the picture but that was from the flash). so yes it does matter what it is shot over. if you polsih the fins you should get a nice color out of it.

Thanks, Your engine pic with ano red is why he chose that color. The polished fin "edges" will be wiped clean before curing.
