  • Clear durable starlight turned milky?

Its not starlight its the milky way . What gives? I thought this stuff was a clear starlight, but it turned milky over the entire piece. Did I put it on to heavy?

What is the next step, this piece had some heavy masking time so stripping isn't much of an option. Can it be sanded down until I start to hit color and re shoot? I guess the good thing is its completely flat so sanding will be easy.

    Thanks

Another question. Did you hot flock it? If you did, too thick may cause it to turn milky. I've had that occur with other starlight clears when I applied it too thick, but honestly haven't tried the SD. Maybe too high a gun voltage for the metallic? What gun are you using and what voltage did you shoot it at?

I carry a gun because I'm too young to die, and too old to take an ass-whoopin'!

Did you clean it with acetone before the starlight coat? acetone does that if you dont wait long enough

I had that happen recently with the SD Clear . Not sure why either it was in a very small spot everything else was perfect. I cleaned w/denatured alcohol. hit it with my torch and sprayed, shot it a 15-20 kv.

I didn't hot flock it. Shot at room temp at about 30-40Kv. Using the JP80T gun. I'm postitive its fully cured. I checked the temp several times and each time said right around 400. 10@400

It said 2-2.5 mil, so I guessed like usual, I think I got it wrong. damnit. Imma try sanding it down till I hit color then try again. If that won't work I'll strip it. Good thing is my own piece and not a customers.

Had the same problem with the SD Clear Starlight--redid the part 5x and still the same milky look.tried over Mirror black and some test panels i had..Ordered a few pounds more and came out perfect.Had to trash 2 pounds of the SD Starlight as it wasn't working.
