FLOWABILITY...

In a hopper compressed air is introduced through a porous fluidizing plate at the bottom of the hopper. As the air slowly rises through the layer of powder, it suspends individual pwoder particles and turns the mass of powder into a fluid-like state.


THE PURPOSE OF FLUIDIZATION IS TWOFOLD. FIRST, IT ALLOWS POWDER COATINGS TO EASILY BE TRANSPORTED FROM THE HOPPER TO THE GUN WITH A HIGH DEGREE OF UNIFORMITY AND CONSISTENCY. SECOND, FLUIDIZATION SERVES TO PRECONDITION THE POWDER, BREAKING UP AGGLOMERATIONS, REMOVING ABSORED MOISTURE, AND IMPROVING THE HANDLING AND FLOWABLILTY OF THE MATERIAL.
