      Re: Vacuum formed graphics?

i would like to be able to figure out the ways and means of doing it myself so i dont have to tell my customers, " yea i can do that for you, but it takes _ weeks to get this stuff made and mailed"

I've been werking on a cheaper solution for a while... getting close, but not there yet.
still not quite as nice as the Kolorfusion system

what these guys do is a sticker.
what i am looking for is a dye sublimation process similar to a tshirt printing process
in the tshirt process the graffics are first applied to a media (paper transfer sheet)
than that media is set on the tshirt and the heat press heats the dyes and the pressure sends the dyes to the shirt (in sublimation process the shirt must have a polyester coating to absorb the dyes)
now this would work for us on flat parts .but with a combined vaccum and heat press and the right transfert media (transfert sheet that could receive then release the dyes and that could be flexible in all directions )we could print any picture on just about any shape of parts .

i know this transfert media is out there ,i just don t know where to find it .

            Re: Vacuum formed graphics?

Currently Kolorfusion is about the option for large format vacuum decoration. They have a patented process and license companies their process. It is a designed for high volume work. The transfers are printed onto fabric and then placed in a vacuum where the bladder pulls the transfer in contact with the substrate.

There are thermofilms coming to market. The vacuum actually pulls the film against the product. We hope to have samples very shortly.

What size is the product you wish to image?
