Juan]Got a call from someone wanting some perforated pieces done. Got a size of "1 foot 6 by 6 foot 8" each total of 170sq. ft. for all pieces.
What's pricing per square foot on this stuff? Thank you!
You already submitted a price but,
What size? How many parts? What prep will be involved?
They are 1.5 by 6.5 feet. There is a total of 14 pieces. They are bare metal and might only require some cleaning, maybe light blasting. This is per the customer's description.
I may be reading this completely wrong but some of the powders list coverage by the pound between 50-140 sq.ft. You said these parts were @170 sq.ft. and you were charging $30 a piece?
Not trying to bust your balls but at 1.5 by6.5 thats 9.75 per side 19.5 total per piece for $43.87 at2.25 per sq.ft.I know you said you were guessing at the price but thats a $210 differance in total. One of you is going to be eating that.Hope it's not you!Hopefully your customer knows the differance between an estimate and a quote.
Last piece of perforated steel I did as an experiment actually got really good coverage by just doing a light coat per side, the powder is able to wrap around each hole and around the edges to cover both sides evenly.
I called a local coating shop and was quoted $30 per panel. That should be close enough. This seems like a fair price to me and what I would expect to pay for a job like this. I have put in a few bids for small production runs and never get any of them, so I'm sure they must be getting great deals somewhere else. I would be happy just to get one of those jobs and adjust pricing as needed for future runs lol...
