  • coating for food industry

i have a person who makes parts for machines in the food industry. he wants me to coat some parts for him but the have to be very chip resistant because they will be used around food. he's bascily going to give me a part so i can coat it then hit it with a hammer or such to see if the coating will stay or chip and fall off( which is NOT good for the food industry!!). what powders do you recamend? ( EPOXY, HYBRID, POLYESTER, ETC.).

no color choice of yet HARLEYDAD, but i want to get all my facts and information straight before i talk to this guy. it will not be touching the food directly but i'm assumeing if the part should some how get hit he wants to see if it will crack and have pieces of the coat fall off.

We have a few customers doing the same process you are. They are using 1 of our FDA approved food products, it is a gray color and is priced by box quantity at $4.95lb.

Ok I got to ask. Why do they say not to use powderd items near food? I've heard it said, but never heard a reason why. What is the difference between the FDA powder and other powders?
