  • Problems with Dormant Blue??

I sprayed this color over the weekend and I gotta say it looks nothing like me and the customer thought it would? It only looks blue in pictures, but in person it looks REALLY REALLY purple/violet? Is this the way it was supposed to be? I mean its 2 different colors entirely?

Uncleared it is silver, I put clear on it and it looks violet, not blue, but when i photograph it it looks blue. I cant get a shot of what it really looks like because when I photo it its blue but in person its purple.

Never shot the dormant blue. It may take awhile to get a response. Most guys don't get to read this all day like I can!

Dumb question but are you looking at that under fluorescent lights, or does it look wrong outside as well?I had a similar problem with a trans gold. It looked great outside but under fluorescent light it had a bad green tint to it.Unfortunately that is where it was going to be displayed so it would'nt do.That dormant looks like a blue that Honda and toyota uses. And under low light and flourescent it looks more purple than blue.

Aren't the dormant colors suppose to change hues/color from diff angles and lighting conditions?

Yes they do change with lighting conditions, it looks really really deep purple under flourescent lighting, and just looks purple under sunlight.

The Dormant Blue, when looking at a flat panel will look purle, give it a tilt and it turns to blue Maybe we should post this under the FlipFlops

The Dormant Blue is from Tiger, we will have to check into this for you. I have seen this product a few times on a panel and it is a darker royal blue. if I remember right i believe it did have a purple tint in different angles. Also it is hard to get pictures of these dormants, they tend to change color when photographed.

                      Thanks

Maybe you should try sneaking up on them.

I bought a gun and some powder from a guy so I don't know the brand but he gave me a dormant blue. Maybe all the dormants are made by the same manufacturer but here is the one I have. It actually may be a really good match for the Yamaha blue I have a customer wanting. BTW this is indoors under flourescent lighting.
