I'm definitely on the lower end of the food chain in this place. I'm about midway into building a proper oven (2x3x6 feet), but I've been so busy with working that I needed to get something done right now.
I built the framework out of 3/4 inch angle iron, MIG welded. I also put one handle on the top and one on the front to make it easier and more controllable when setting it in place. Then. I bought a sheet of 1 inch duct board, a roll of high temp metal tape, a tube of fireplace caulk, and built this.

My girlfriend actually did it all while I was prepping a bunch of parts. I just welded the structure. I gave her a tape measure, razor knife, straight edge and the idea of what I wanted.
It sure works well. She put a little inspection door in the end for temp checking. We sealed all edges, inside and out with the high temp fireplace caulk, then triple taped all seams with the high temp metal duct tape. We actually had enough tape left over on the roll that we taped the whole box for added stregth and durability.
I cooked off a part yesterday at 550 degrees for one hour and the outside of the box got to about 100 degrees. When cooking at 400 for 20 minutes, it just gets slightly warm to the touch.
I actually have a near unlimited access to this duct board in 2 inch thicknesses. I'm thinking about using it in my big oven too.
