  • A question about KL primer

I ordered some last night for a project I'm doing. It is an air cleaner off and old car. It seems that wet leaves sat atop the air cleaner lid for a long time as it is moderately rust pitted.

My questions is, do I just shoot the KL, cure it, wet sand, and repeat a few times to fill the pits ? I really don't think they are deep enough to justify a filler material.

Also, what do I clean the part with after wet sanding before I recoat it ?

Hey AG, The kl primer should work just fine for that. If the pitting is minimal one coat should get it if not then I would do it in a couple of thin coats. As far as cleaning a mild soap and water or denatured alcohol will work fine.

What I've been doing lately is "dry sanding" the KL primer and blowing off the dust with the air gun. That way I don't have to worry about making sure the part is completely dry before the next coat of primer. So far it hasn't left any dust turds on the part with just the "blow job"!

I appreciate the polite answers to the newbie question. I will post a pic of the project when I get it done.

I am very interested in this blow job technology you talk about...any chance of a youtube vid of this or some pics or something?

*edit* oh never mind, I just googled for blow job and got a whole lot of results...i'm good!
