Hello all, I just got through building and installing my stacks for my truck and I want them PC'ed. Now I have for the time being a standard house convection oven I'm curing small stuff in. I have access to an old dispatch oven where I work but it is a dinosaur close to 35-40 years old and I can't get it up to over 230 degrees and theres nobody still there who knows anything about it. I've gotten the manual out and read up on it as to how to adjust the temp but that part has been removed long ago. To make this long story short. Is there a clear that cures at or below 230 degrees. Or can I shoot them with a clear and leave it in for a longer period to cure. I was thinking about shooting them with Ult chrome and then clear. Or just clear where the mill finish spun aluminum can be seen. Thanks for any info you folks can give me.

Wow, 230 is barely enough to flow out. I dont think you will ever get a full cure with that temp. (I may be wrong, wait on Harleydad or The King or someone with more knowledge than me on the subject to chime in). I do know they sell low cure powders, but I personally have not seen one in a clear. -

Is that oven supposed to go higher than that?Or does'nt it say on the dial?If you think it's broken see if you can find the make and model number.I know a few guys that do that kind of work I might be able to get some info for you.Comment

I think I remember seeing in the manual that it is supposed to go up to 600 degrees. I also tried adjusting the temperature control how the manual explained but it made no difference. I traced the thermocouple back to where it went in the oven and it looks like at some point in time the original old adjustment was over ridden and a new controller put on it. I have tried adjusting it but I still can't get it to go any higher. I will try to get some pics of it Monday.Comment

How are you checking the temp.? Is it worth it to you or your boss to buy new parts if you need to?Aside from it not getting hot enough is it cycling normally?I should have asked this first but I'm assuming it's a gas oven.If it is ,is the burner clogged anywhere?Comment
