  • Cure Question with heavy piece???

I am coating a piece weighing about 40lbs and with thick walls ( 10ga or .135 or heavy 1/8"). I just timed the bare piece to get to 375 degrees at 30 minutes from cold (45degrees).

Should I start my cure time from the 30 minute mark or will it already be cured?

Possibly lower temp cure with longer cure time?

The part gets to 200 in about 15 minutes...

    I am looking for suggestions.

    Thanx

All cure scedules are at Part Metal Temperature. Once the part had reached the desired cure temperature - the cure time begins

I agree with you KING, BUT, on some peices, like the fire hydrant I coated, it took so long to get from 375 to 400 that by the time it reached 400 I already had cured at the extended time for 375 degrees.

for instance, took about 18 min to get from 375 to 400 on the hydrant, so technically I cured at 375 for 18 min and about 2 or 3 min at 400. (Plus it stayed at a high temp. due to the thickness of the part during cooldown)

know what I want to say, dont know so much how to say it, KING, you know what I am talking about.
