I'm coating a motor cycle rim to use as a show piece at shows. I want it to be top notch. I first laied down a candy red 1/8" stripe on the lip of the rim all the way around. Then I sprayed mirror black over the rest of the rim. It looks pretty bad ass I must say and was pretty proud of myself for it being my first really good masking job. Any ways, because I was using 1/8" fine line tape i could only lay it down so good. There are really small slivers of chrome showing. You have to look to see them but I'm a perfectionist so they must be taken care of.
I can think of only two options. get a paint brush with some MEK and candy red. Paint over the sliver's of chrome. dry, then cure for 10@400. OR option 2, try liquid to powder and paint on, dry, cure. I've never used either.
What sucks is you have to look for it to see it, but I know its there and it irritates the hell out of me. I'm going to put glass clear over it all to seal it all up and give it a smoother appearance as the tape line ridges are noticeable. I've already wet sanded by hand with 1000, and followed up with a DA and 3000 grit. It looks pretty good now.
