When I decided to grab my son's old 20" bike frame that had been hanging above my shop door (inside) for 20 years and got it blasted. Dag that was some tough org paint after i got all the rattle can stuff off And then got ready to two tone it (overlay style) I did notice a wee problem with the brazed areas and wanted to discolor some? I didn't out gas it I don't think? It took my big oven and I knew it was heated for placement on the top of my sign near the road and its a drive by and see not a walk up and look deal on our road. So didn't bug me to much. It was just a eye catcher and that's all and works great. Have not had any to do so I guess if I am doing one for a customer I need to try to correct the problem! What is your best work around on the brazing bleeding through? If you enlarge the picture you will see the bleed. Its darker(just in case you didn't put your glasses or contacts in)
I remember watching that "how it's made" show on discovery.They were making bicycles. They showed them brazing some of the joints from the inside.[they heat it up then drop chunks down the tube] But that still should'nt be a problem unless the brazing outgasses?

I got a chance to do a little research so I could get chrome moly back in my head from the past. You used to hear the word a lot and now we have better stronger stuff when it's needed. Superman might have a bit of a problem with some of the new metals today
So I am guessing you just need to make sure it has been well etched and go for it? The temps on curing was the main thing I guess and I don't think 375 to 400 makes one bit of diff on this stuff? Maybe 1000+

Had a guy call today and want his 91 Trek 970 chrome moly bike frame done.
I have not found any problem doing it except Ted said something about getting the chrome moly steel right for the coating to work good? Also I remember something about some welds being troublesome and I think it was Tig Welding using some maybe newer type rods? That you had to watch out for.
