  • Acrylic Clear orange peel

Ok, my first try with the acrylic. I let the part completely cool, then shot what I thought was a light coat. Apparently not, because it sure isn't smooth. Can this be sanded lightly and a second coat applied, or am I facing a redo?

Have you tried a light sanding and then buffing out the clear?

Not yet. I've never had good luck with it, but I guess it can't hurt to try.

Bad luck with the sanding or the buffing? For me I just use 2000 grit and a little water mister and then the System One. Be very careful around sharp edges, cause you'll sand thru to the metal in a heartbeat! Good luck!

Not a huge deal. Its easy enough to redo this piece.

            That's not bad!

Wet sand it carefully and buff it.

Only issue would be how thick the clear is - I know it's your not supposed to lay it on very heavy.

I bet it buffs right up.

Not huge, but definitely above average. (Following you right off topic)

Speaking of the Acrylic Clear. Is it any more difficult to remove than standard powders with either Dzolve 1012 or the Cybersolve?

Because I sanded the dash piece smooth last night and re-shot it. I thought I put it on lighter, and used a lower KV setting, but it doesn't look much better than it did the first time. I'm going to strip the whole thing and try it again using the clear that I'm used to. The acrylic is kicking my butt.

Thats why I was asking how hard it is to strip. It's already on a keeper, but I have no problem stripping it and redoing....if it will come off!

Give sanding/buffing a shot before you strip it.

It didn't look like it would take that much to me.
