Has anyone ever used high temp powder on a set of Headers??? I need to know if the temps on exhaust headers will be to much for the high temp powder..... Thanks

    Re: HIGH TEMP POWDERS

I haven't done automotive headers with it, but I have done a snowmobile exhaust manifold and pipes. The High Temps should take 1000 f continuous temps with peaks up to 1200 f. Not sure what actual header temps are though. The downside is you have to prep meticulously following the instructions to the letter. You get one chance to do it right because you cannot do a second coat because it won't adhere once cured since the powder is silicone-based. I have found that the High-Temp is very prone to scratching too, so you need to be careful with it when you're done. The manifold and pipes I did are beginning to show spots of surface rust coming through after 2 riding seasons under the hood. Ceramic on headers would probably be a much better choice.

I've done acouple headers in hitemp. Haven't had a problem so far. I wouldn't use it for a high performance application though, ceramic would be the best for turbo, NOS or high HP cars/trucks.

I did the header on my sandrail and it ok,no problem, but i also did the muffler and it has
started to flake off,but that might be because it is getting hit by sand from the rear tires
I also did a friends turbo exh pipe and that still looks good.
