I was watching the video King put up about powder classes and they touched on this. King do you have anymore info on this? I have a industrial vacuum bake oven I would love to try and do some of this with...
Are you going to the PBTP get-together in April? Maybe we can see that in person. I'm searching for plane tickets right now! Did you get that oven working?

I carry a gun because I'm too young to die, and too old to take an ass-whoopin'!

We looked at the technology 4 years ago, a machine big enough to do 4 wheels at once..$250k
Waiting to hit mega millions and get us one, It's replacing chrome.
If you contact Dupont they get get you all the info on the process, and equipment manufacture

Not sure if the one I got would be up to the snuff or not but its big enough to do one wheel...
Same reason you can hold a part in one hand and shoot it with the other and you won't feel anything. (except for all the hair standing up on your arm!)

I always get zapped. Am I doing something wrong?
i would say that either you are wearing a glove in the hand holding the gun or you have a faulty ground some where
Thats insane. I could sell the $hit out of a product like that. Just think of all the chrome parts you see that could be done this way. If its the way of the future, than getting on the bandwagon early is your meal ticket.
I hope this develops quickly to an economical alternative to chroming.
We saw some rims at the convention in Indy last year that had been done with the metalization process.....they are probably as close to real chrome as you are going to get... we did notice that on the back sides of the pieces they had there was rough areas where the edges were and also we noticed what looked like dust that had been trapped under the foil in some areas (it shows up much worse IMO than in the powder itself), I would assume you have to have a very very very clean area to do this in to have it defect free.

where those rims completly plated or was it what they call a chrome clad wheel .
those clad wheels are an aluminium wheel with a chrome plated plastic or stainless cover glued or epoxy fixed on top of it . more and more of these on new cars .
here s a link to what it looks likehttp://www.wheelsandcaps.com/Chrome_Clad_Wheels.html

They were fully done with the metalization process.....we talked to the rep for over an hour about it, I have the company name here someplace lol, when I get a minute I will try to find it and post the link to their web site which has a few pics on it.
Some jackass from a FL company just quoted me 750,000 bills for a machine that could do this.
As a president of a company you'd think he'd want to sell/infor clients about his products. He didn't answer any of my questions, just said he has customers powder coating over it. Didn't even write complete sentances. HAHA gotta love the age of customer no service.
