Looking at the diagram in the diy hopper with pbtp membrane,i understand the primary air line is what is creating the venturi, what i don't understand is the secondary air line, what is it's purpose? is it just to increas the air/powder flow to the gun? I am thinking of building one of these so im just trying to get all my ducks in a row..

    thanks

    Re: diy hopper

Great explanation HD! It is a very simple principal and if you are making a hopper yourself you can make a venturi pump using copper tubing. Just cut a hole in the bottom of the tube and insert another tube inside the hole at a slight angle in the direction of the air flow and solder it in place. These are your primary air supply and powder pick up tubes. Now do the same thing on top of the tube about a inch down from the powder pickup. This will be your secondary air supply. I have a regulator on each line so I can adjust each one independently to achieve the desired air to powder ratio.

      The nozzle/venturi should be teflon

Should be... but it is much harder for the average DIYer to work with teflon to make a venturi pump. Gatta work with what you have.

Mayhaps the King Coat pump with a venturi can be used ?

                    Re: diy hopper

It is. Mathew at PBTP said since there is no fitting for powder feed on the JP80T, you would have to modify the fitting on the back of the gun to accept the powder hose, then plug the cup inlet somehow (if I understand hiim correctly). Or make a fitting for the hose to go in where the cup currently attaches?

Yes, this pump works in conjunction with the hopper...

Is that all that needs to be done? Heck I can do that. What size hose would one normally use for a powder feed hose? What kind of fittings? Push lock type, barbed??

So what would be the correct air routing when setting up a hopper system?

dont you have a jp80t gun?

According to Dan a hopper cannot be adapted to it wish I had waited for the king gun.
