  • Pricing help on large industrial item

Need some help from you guys on figuring out a price on these. I've been asked to put in a big for these large well covers for a local government agency. They are about 5 feet tall and a couple feet in diameter. They weight about 100 pounds each. They will be coated inside and out, no masking wit the exception of one threaded pipe, easy to do.

I can only do one of these at a time. They should require no blasting since I'll be getting them straight from the manufacturer. Any ideas on pricing?

They are looking to do 10, but I will be receiving them 1 at a time as they need 'em.

I'm open to suggestions on pre-treatment and will discuss this with PBTP.

May be long reach inside that thing unless the top is removable (looks like it is).
How tight a fit on the top? Also looks like hinged door, you'll have to work those as soon as it's cool enough to touch.
The top is completely removable and will be coated separately. The side cover is on a piano hinge, and I'm not really sure how to coat the entire thing. Any suggestions? Is the thing the first thing I should coat and just hot-flock it?

I had ~250 in mind with 300 being a cap depending on how much work goes into them. The inside just has a couple of brackets to hold a shelf that is not pictures but will also be coated.

Will the pipe hold the weight of the container? You could use a pipe cap, drill a hole in the top and use an eye bolt to hang. You could hang and mask the threads in one step.

I'll attempt to answer both questions at once.

No, I don't think the threaded pipe will hold up the weight of the entire thing. This thing is HEAVY, I might eve have to rethink the floor design on my oven or modify it to be on the concrete instead.

I plan on building a rack for it. Just like my other hanging rack but a lot stronger and with metal casters. Then throw a chain and hook through the 2 loops that the lid bolts down to.

            It's for a government agency?
Make sure you get a copy of the spec the gov. agency requires.
I had an issue once where a contractor doing work for our county, and after the work was done the question was raised as to whether or not we followed the spec.... that we were never informed of

            luckily we exceeded the spec.
Get it in writing, what they want from you, how they want the job done, etc.
cross all your T's, and dot them I's..... alot of confusion dealing with them gov guys

Most importantly clearly lay out how & when you expect to be paid, and contact info (direct line) to accounts payable.

            $200-$300 sound about right
