I got a couple of bike parts (brake caliper brackets or something) that I need to blast and powder coat, seemed like a pretty straight forward job. So I clean them and put them in the cabinet to blast. I start to blast and everything looks good, except for some areas around holes where the current finish starts to peel off like onion skin.
Not all of it will blast off, just these small areas. They look purpleish/blue under them while the rest of the piece looks like it was just blasted with aluminum oxide. Nothing else will come off, not even after hovering around the same spot for several seconds. I don't think it's chrome, since it shows none of the normal signs that I've seen before when blasting... lots of sparks, electrical arcs, brown/yellow surface under the chrome layer. This looks like it's ready to powder coat, I'm just not sure. Any ideas?
