Well guys. I cheated. I scuffed the clear coat down and just shot Mirror Black over it for a 3rd coat. I knew the black would cure right. It turned out looking great. I had never actually tried to do this before. I'll try to get pictures when I'm done with all the parts. I just coated what I think you call "sliders" for the front shocks on the motorcycle. I tried to coat them heavier with the Mirror Black. My question is? The sharp edges showed through transparent. Should I scuff them down also or can I just shoot another coat of black without scuffing? I was hoping I had put it on heavy enough so this wouldn't have happened. Hopefully, someone has some good advise...

Every clear Ive sprayed to heavy has turned milky on me.

So less is more with clear coat.

Ive layed out a smooth glass clear, the next time I shoot it turn out like crap.

I just got an LED flashlight this last Xmas. I'll try it out. I also ordered 2 lbs. of SD Clear from PBTP today. Thanks...

Thanks for the reply Harleydad. I think I'm going to buy some PBTP SD Clear. I used my Wagner EPG 2008 for the second coat and it looked like it was coated good. I'll stick a small part back in the oven and cure longer and see what happens. At this point it can't make it any worse. It was just a direct coat of clear over the Mirror Black once it was cured and cooled down to room temp. It really looks like it didn't flow out. I just did some other motorcycle parts with this same batch of powder over Mirror Black not to long ago and they turned out beautiful. This same guy wants me to do his frame next and I darn sure don't want to do it more than once.

I just had problems with a Glass Clear that is a low temp powder. The cure time on my package said 340 [email protected] minutes. I cured it at 15 minutes once the part hit temperature because I was afraid 20 minutes was too long. The clear was coated evenly over Mirror Black and it turned out dull and slightly textured looking. I had this same trouble over 2 years ago and bought some from a different company and it worked fine again. Now,of all things, it happened again just like the powder may have gone bad. It is fresh powder with a company I have bought powder from for years. Would Super Durable Clear be more forgiving? It's not much fun stripping a inner and outer primary cover again. It looked great with just the Mirror Black but the motorcycle owner wanted a clear for more protection. I'm not happy having to do this again and would like to get it right the next time. This clear is the only powder I have had trouble with over the years. I thought I remembered a thread where someone else had problems with low temp clears. Any help would be appreciated....
