OK OK I know there is no way to know exactly what you are going to get when you start mixing powders, but I had an odd one the other day. I had a little bit of the wet black in my gun and decided I was going to shoot something I was working on in Black Lava. Then I had the flash of brilliance that I could mix some lava in with the black already in the gun and get an even darker black lava. Now I was just playin around so I didn't measure accurately or anything but it was about 1 part black to 2 parts black lava. So when I shot it, there is almost no difference at all. There is MUCH more black if you look at the piece in low light, but in good light it looks the exact same.

So what have you guys gotten with mixing colors? what mixes the truest? what doesn't mix at all? I assumed (wrongly obviously) that the black would dominate in my experiment. I really thought I would get a mostly black part with a hint of the red. I suppose flat colors would be easier to guess the outcomes of as opposed to goofy things like that black lava that has so many shades in it.

I mixed some candy gold with candy red 8:1 ratio, and came out with a nasty light yellow with specs of red. = crap. I was trying for a 1 shot candy sunflower yellow. From a distance it looks peach.

I've played with mixing like powders with one another and failed everytime.

Ive had great luck with mixing solids/RAL colors to the shade i wanted.. But have not tried mixing much metallic colors..

For the Color your trying to get you would want to Try and take a larger amount of Wet black and ad Smaller amount of the Black Lava to it..

It is much better to mix the metal flake additives with the powder's than by mixing powders...all resins are not created equal nor do they always get along ... if you wish to mix or experiment, you can always call the office to see if the powders will play nice together.

hey that is true...I should bother you more King

I know there is no majik formula that will tell you the result you are going to get. I'm just curious as to what people have been trying out. I have to get some of that flake in my next order too. Actually I guess my next order will probably be in person! Hey you guys be sure King doesn't get me in the shop with my credit card all loaded!
