  • Prepping chrome for candy adhesion

I'm coating some parts in candy red that will be used and abused to say the least. The part is chrome and I would rather spray red over it than sandblast and apply a chrome powder 1st. I don't think I can expect the same durability because its not etched in anyway. Think a light blasting from two feet away might do the ticket, or just eat it and spray a chrome powder...

    Thanks
    Rob

I would just clean it real good and shoot over the chrome. If you blast it, you're going to see it through the candy. But that's just me!

I have had great results just by cleaning the chrome and shooting candy on top of the chrome.

Thats what I normally would do. I just know this piece will get thrashed day in and day out and I don't want problems down the road.

        Clean N shoot it is.

You could always clear over the top of the candy with the SD clear.

It's hard as a rock and probably will protect better than the candy alone.
