  • custom frame ?

I'm doing a custom motorcycle frame and I will be doing some touch ups with metal to metal filler followed by a coat or 2 of kl primer and then sd wet black, my question is should I Phosphate the frame before I use the metal to metal or after? I'm not sure what effect Phosphating will have on the filler.

Thanks for the reply Harleydad, I would also assume after the repair but I wonder about the effect it may or may not have on the filler...I hope someone can chime in on this.

That is a good Q. You could try phosphate on a test piece with welds and the filler to see what happens before/during and after the cure.

I was hoping to avoid all that but I just might have to run a test piece. Maybe I'll still get lucky and someone that has more info. on this will chime in

I have been keeping the phosphate away from the filler material.

I don't think there is anything to gain from phosphating the filler - just potential problems.
