  • Has Any Found A Stripper For???

Have any of you found the best way or stripper to strip the undercoating off wheels like the 2000 type BMW ones? I can't test my PBTP stripper on them unless I have one to do? And I don't!
But had a guy call and ask the price of coating 18" wheels and I gave him one but then I added could depend on the wheel and then I ask him what type of wheel and he said org 2001 BMW and then I choked and and said they are rough to strip and I would be glad to try and help and would do some checking to see if any one had found a good way beside the torch method that Jason had me do on my first set? I told the guy I can't go through that again for the normal price Got to find a better way He said they would be in by the end of the week and he would call back to see what I have found out.

Got any ideas or do I have to go outside the box to find a way

If a just want the undercoating off use bug and tar remover or a paint prep. You can also use mineral spirits.

I think you are missing what undercoating I am talking about? I am talking about what is under the color on the wheel that does not want to budge.

Not sure if my bigger blaster would have helped or not? It might have damaged the wheel as tough as it is to get off. I did what Jason told me he had to do to get it off and that was to use torch and turn it black and then pass back over it and it will turn white and just float off and then you have to blast to clean it all up and get what parts were missed. I found out that powder want stick to even a small speck of it?

Some of the high cost strippers might get it? That is why I posted this to see what any one else has used. I think I also remember some one saying that they run up on the same under coat on a set of calipers?

Its had to believe that out of all the coaters on here that Jason and I are the only ones that has had to put up with this undercoating from HELL

That might be the only best and quickest way looks like? My ALC blaster might do it? I guess I need a wheel to test? Maybe the guy that has a set coming in that wants them coated has the same type of wheel on his car maybe that I could test? I just wish I or we knew when they started using this process and on what wheels?

I wonder if it's like that coating on those HD wheels I did. It didn't seem to budge in the cybersolv tank. I soaked it for a couple of days and then scrapped tried wire wheels and it was still hard to get off. Even hit it with the blaster, no budge. So I soaked them for another night and then hit them with the pressure washer and wa,la the stuff peeled off in sections. I use the pressure washer after soaking now. Another trick I have used for stubborn stuff is put it in my little oven and bake at 650f for an hour then when cooled throw in the blaster. The stuff blast off like blowing off dust. Hopefully one of these ideas will help ya.
