I shot UC for the first time with the king gun then shot with SD clear. I understand about loosing some gloss after clear, other words I dont something wrong. Looks silver. Im thinking I got to thick with UC or the clear. Had to turn the kv down, as I was shoting I had these cob webs of UC floating away.

Originally posted by zx10what did they suggest as a clear? I see glass clear says for metallics
I believe for UC acrylic is the preferred choice. I just bought glass clear for my metallics ill have to test it on chromes.

I was referring to the cob web deal. I remember someone else having that same issue (totally different powder) but I don't recall if anyone ever determined what the problem actually was.
shooting parts hot (above 250*) will cause the cob webbing..... kinda cool to see it happen
and film build is crazy high!!!
I learned this the hard way when we first started, put the meter on it and it was crazy like 20-30 mils

Re: advice with ultimate chrome
I shot the Ultimate chrome hot. shot the clear cold.
Im not clearing for metallics.
IR showed 140, I thought it was to hot too. my hair was tingling as well. Turned kv down and the webing stoped.
I have seen other people on here use that same clear with UC with good results. For one would be Harley.

What is the reason not to use it over metallics?
Thanks.

Re: advice with ultimate chrome
Mike, wish I could help you! After og... if needed.. we shoot the ult chrome cold, nice even layer. Heat & cure for full cycle. Part completely cold again, then the acrylic clear. Nothing specialYes you loose that "pop" with the clear but not too bad
Good Luck!
