Does anyone have a pic of what KL looks like after it has cured? Just curious if I am gettting the thickness right.

    thanks

A single coat will have some transparency. There is really no right or wrong mil thickness, it just depends on what the user needs it to do.

This isn't a great pic but here is four pieces coated in KL. The heavier you coat it the more pronouced. I have filled some good spots with it with zero problems.

Like ALT Powder said a single coat will look that way. You can do a fairly good build. I probably pushed the envelope the other day but it cured great and sanded down nicely, tough but nicely.

This is some good info... I have some KL on the way and will post a picture as soon as I shoot a bottle with it.

The biggest thing is you can smooth out surfaces. It's self leveling and sandable. It can also be used for outgas protection.

This star has multiple coats of KL primer on it. The center has been sanded some so you can see the diff in what it looks like sanded vs "thick" and unsanded. As said it will have a transparent look to it and the thinner the coat the more trans it will look. To get the max bennies from it's filling properties, "I" like to sand it smooth in between coats to see how much more KL I'll have to put on to fill all the holes, OP, etc.. Just like bondo, put it on sand off the excess, keep doing that until you get the smoothness that you want.

Are you doing full cures on each coat of the KL?

In most cases yes, before sanding for sure I do a full cure. With the star ( cast iron ) I put it on heavy, put it in the oven until flow out, out for more KL hot and back in for a full cure.

Some guys will half cure sand then put in for a full cure. Then recoat as needed. I do a full cure sand and then recoat.
