o.k., i get 2 harley hubs . one is steel and one is aluminum. the aluminum one"s chrome is flakeing off so i blasted it and gave it a coat of KL primer. i shot the aluminum one and it came out looking good. i shot the steel one that was in good condition and the color is MUCH DARKER than the aluminum one . what the heck happened! both cured in the same oven but not with each other. could the steel one heat up too much to cause it to get dark? color is red and the finish looks the same but are way off in color to each other.

it's called blood red from CC. i have used it before. yes both hubs were chromed but the aluminum one was crappy and flakeing so i blasted and gave a coat of primer. if the part was too close to the element will it turn it darker? the color is uniforme just much darker.

It's more likely that the color difference is the result of one being shot over a basecoat and the other not. With two different substrates, it's more important to have an identical base in order to get consistant color.

I get the same problem w/steel everything comes out darker.. Tried multiple times on some steel bar-ends on a busa to come out the same as the aluminum foot pegs.. It just wont happen.. My theory is steel is just a darker metal and wont produce the same color as aluminum will, at least w/Red colors anyhow...

if you pay attention most all powder colors change after they cool

You will also notice this with PBTP's 40% gloss black... it looks a lot like bumper black fresh out of the oven. Give it 15-20 minutes and it looks satin.
