I ordered myself a new King Coat gun lastnight, just wondering if anybody has some pointers or tricks to get started with the new gun? I know most of it will be trial and error first starting out. Thanks for any advice!
Gettin use to the adjustments is the only hard part. When you start out don't give up. I run 65psi to the control box. Turn all air adjusting dials on the control box completely off. The fluidizing air is the first one you'll set. It's the air that goes into the hopper. There is hardly any air that's used, so thats why it's touchy. Slowly open the valve at the hopper until you can swiryl the powder around in the hopper like it's water instead of powder. Don't over do it to much air will push the powder through the hose on it's own. Next would be your dilution air. Thats the second dial going left to right. It says air above it. I have found so far most powders run between .5 and 1. You'll have to pull the trigger on the gun to activate this setting and the next two, so have your kv's turned all the way off. Now your ready to turn the powder dial. Slowly turn this dial until you see the powder begin to flow. You're doing this again by pulling the trigger on the gun. Adjust this flow until you have the cloud you want. The last adjustment is the rinse air. I just barely turn this one on it doesn't really even register on it's gauge. Now trial and error is going to be your learning. If you are spraying and you keep getting spurts of powder or surges. You either have to much hopper fluidizing air or not enough dilution air. Start with trying the dilution air first, add more slowly to see if you can smooth out the flow. Well I hope this helps ya get started. Goodluck, we are here if you need help.
Glad to hear you went ahead and pulled the trigger man! Everything I know I've pretty much sent to ya via PM... The rest you will find out on your own and with the help of every one on here you will be good
good luck with the new gun.let us all no it is.just remember patients and lots of it.i shot my pro gun last week-end and i couldn't wait to jump back to the king coat again.
Do you have the capability to adjust the amount of air psi going to the hopper? If so, have that psi set @ 25 psi or LESS. It'll be ALOT easier to adjust the red handle on the ball valve for proper fluidization!
Got the gun Friday! Started building a spray booth today! Hopefully this week I can try it out.
I will have to build a metal framework on the top so I can hang the parts off of it also.
