  • Cycle caliper price

What is a good starting point for pricing cycle calipers?

I need to quote 2 and 4-pot sportbike calipers in single stage powder, and am not sure how difficult and time-consuming they are.

Is there a lot of masking? Does it matter if they are 2 or 4 piston?

    They are completely disassembled.

    Thanks.

      Thanks - that was quick!

How much would blasting add to that?

      Thanks.

        Re: Cycle caliper price

I do them if completely broken down piston removed...
$30/each side for 2 piece usually front..
and $20 for the 1-piece rear.
thats w/blasting since its anodized, It comes off easy...

If I break Down and re-assemble there looking at an increase of $20 for the front and $10 rear.

I mask all machined areas and around the piston bore.. So yes it can be alot... Those pre-cut dies should work well for the bores. Maybe 2" ??

When I run it through my estimator it comes to $78.00. This includes cleaning, blasting, phosphate, masking, one out gassing cycle, and coating. Without seeing the part this is as close as I can estimate it.

              Estimator? What are you using?

To keep this on topic I am is the same ballpark as far as price goes.

This will give you an idea of what need to be masked and dont forget to plug all holes.

                Re: Cycle caliper price

I use my accounting software to estimate jobs. Very quick and it always makes sure I get paid for my time, materials, and other miscellaneous costs. It also saves the estimate so when the customer calls back or stops by the shop I can quickly pull it back up and turn it into a invoice.

Going off of your pictures the quote I gave before would be fairly accurate (for my shop).

                  Thanks guys, appreciate the help.

Without your comments and suggestions I would have priced them too low. There is more masking required than I thought.

I still vote for a pricing section...
