  • Buying powder coating

I am "brand new" to this forum and am looking to buy some powder coating , and the site is a little confusing..
Where do I go to actually to be able to buy some powder ?
I know this seems like a stupid question ,but it is early in the morning for me and I'm not functioning real well right now..
    Thanks,
    Ron

I thought you were going to say the ones that I ask.

Actually being new I think every question I ask is stupid sounding. The people here reply with great help and knowledge and that makes me feel the questions I ask are important. You will find that everyone here will make you more comfortable asking questions as well as do everything they can to answer them and ensure you understand. Take it from me I'm thick headed. And if they can help me learn they can anyone.

I do have a couple questions .... If I need to put a clearcoat on a chrome powdercoat , do I need to cure the base and then apply the clear and cure again , or do you "have" to apply both as powders and then cure ? Also in basically the same scenario , if I missed a area in a single color can I go back and touch-up and then cure it over again ??
                Thanks,
                Ron

                  Ron,

For the chrome powders. I would cure the chrome first, let cool and spray the clear and cure.

For touchup's everyone has there own way of doing it. Me personally wait until after the complete cure to fix, unless I missed a spot I can quickly hot flock (spraying over a hot part) and put right back in the oven for a full cure. I do not do this unless I catch it within the first 5 minutes of being in the oven. Then of course I would add an additional 5 minutes to my curing time. Most powders have over bake stability properties. What that means is that you can over cook it and it will turn out fine. Check with PBTP on the "Over Bake" properties for their powders.
